Between alpine farming and natural areas
From the bus stop Alpthal-Malosen we start our hike through autumnal forests and meadows up to the ridge with its spectacular views, which stretches from Einsiedeln to Haggenegg. The alpine farms are deserted and a great peace spreads out.
We follow the ridge over alpine pastures and wet meadows in slight ups and downs, the rugged limestone cliffs of Haggenstock and the two Mythen always in view. The path leads us over the small peaks of Näbekenfirst and Grossbrechenstock, where we enjoy wonderful views over the autumnal forests, endless valleys, lakes and mountains of Central Switzerland.
The west side of our ridge trail is mostly wooded. On the east side the ground is used for alpine farming. On both sides there are always gaps where nature sets limits to the cultivation. A lot happens here and the hiking guide will gladly show you the most exciting details, which are usually overlooked.
The descent over the alpine meadows down to the bus stop is adjusted to the weather and time on the way, so that we are back in the valley in time.
