Grand Muveran - Trekking around the majestic mountain by Ferdinand Hodler

6-day hike in the unspoilt Vaudois Alps

Grand Muveran - Trekking around the majestic mountain by Ferdinand Hodler

Tour description

The Gran Muveran is the southernmost massif of the rather unknown Vaud Alps, situated high above the Rhone Valley and with a view far across Lake Geneva. I know of no comparable area in the Swiss Alps that is so varied and secluded, yet so easy for hikers to walk. Many alps are no longer used and are true flower paradises with rare lilies. We pass colonies of ibex, bearded or griffon vultures circle in the sky.
On the first day I cook dinner, as we are staying in a self-catering hut. On the second evening we sleep in the cosy yurt of a young family who still bring the alpine cheese down to the valley on donkeys. You will find comfort at the newly renovated SAC huts Rambert and la Tourche on the border to the high mountains.
Ferdinand Hodler painted the Grand Muveran in all colours, again and again. Time to get your own impression of this majestic massif.
