The Säntis – only on foot
Tour description
A weekend like this is a rare opportunity:
Due to renovation work on the cable car, Säntis is only accessible on foot this summer. We take advantage of this unique situation for a demanding and outstanding two-day alpine tour with an overnight stay on the Säntis – including an early-morning traverse of the Lisengrat ridge, almost guaranteed ibex sightings, and a classic Alpstein crossing all the way to Wildhaus.
Day 1 – Ascent to Säntis
We start our tour on the Ebenalp and steadily make our way towards Säntis along a varied and impressive route. The trail leads through rugged rock formations, airy ridge sections and quiet alpine pastures – always with the big goal in sight.
The final section via the spectacular Himmelsleiter demands full concentration and sure-footedness before we reach the Säntis summit at 2,502 m in the late afternoon.
At the Alter Säntis Alpine Inn, we enjoy the sunset on the terrace, the panoramic views, the Alpine hut experience and the feeling of having truly reached the top.
Day 2 – Lisengrat ridge and crossing into the Toggenburg
The Lisengrat ridge in the early morning light is an absolute highlight – calm, clear and spectacular. At this time of day, ibex sightings near the Rotstein Pass are almost guaranteed, often just a few metres away.
After the ridge, we follow the “classic route” over the Altmannsattel and continue towards the Zwinglipass. A magnificent high-alpine landscape accompanies us on our way into the Toggenburg, before we finally reach Wildhaus.
Those who wish can ease the descent at the end by taking the comfortable Gamplüt cable car, reducing some of the downhill elevation.

Professionelle Wanderleitung durch zertifizierten Tourenleiter und gesamte Organisation, Übernachtung im komfortablen Doppelzimmer (begrenztes Kontingent nur für unsere Gruppe, keine Einzelbelegung). Spannendes über Flora, Fauna, Kultur und Geografie.
