THE MURG LAKES THE PURE NATURE EXPERIENCE
Tour description
The three Murg lakes are located in a beautiful mountain basin. The circular trail leads past streams, clear lakes, waterfalls, moorland meadows, rock gardens, and the protected Swiss stone pine forest. An impressive nature experience.
From the meeting point at the train station in Murg (SG), we take our taxi (included) to the Merlen car park. A steep climb takes us to the Gspondplatten and the Gsponbach waterfall. The trail then gently follows the Gsponbach stream to the Unter Mürtschen alp.
The trail to Ober Mürtschen offers impressive views of the Mürtschenstock with its three peaks. From Murgseefurggel (picnic spot), you can see the Murgseen lakes surrounded by mountains. Shortly afterwards, you reach the Upper Murgsee lake and the Murgseehütte hut (pit stop). For all die-hards, the crystal-clear mountain lake offers a well-deserved dip to cool off.
We continue our hike past the middle Murgsee lake into the valley, where we can see the impressive waterfall to the lower Murgsee lake. This is located in a protected Swiss stone pine forest. Via the Guflen alpine pastures, we continue to Mornen, where we will end our day's hike with a drink. Our taxi will then take us back to the train station in Murg (SG).
