The Fessis Seeli – crystal-clear mountain lakes in the Glarus region
Tour description
High above Ennenda lie the Fessis Seeli – a picturesque lake plateau created by the immense forces of the last Ice Age. Glaciers shaped the terrain, carved hollows into the rock and, upon their retreat, left behind just under a dozen small lakes. This Ice Age landscape gives the area a distinctive character and makes the hike geologically interesting too.
In summer, the lake district reveals its most colourful side. Alpine roses, gentians, trolls’ flowers and numerous other mountain plants line the path. The wild Glarus mountains are reflected in the lakes, which, in fine weather, invite you to take a refreshing dip.
The hike to the Fessis Seeli is an enjoyable day trip, offering plenty of great photo opportunities or simply a chance to unwind in the peaceful mountain surroundings – a hidden gem far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city (and the Street Parade)...
