Snow-sure sun terrace in the Sernftal valley
Tour description
The Weissenberge are a quiet, remote hamlet 500 metres above the road to Elm. The Weissenberge are probably so named because a lot of snow usually falls here. That's why the flanks to the Sunnehöreli or Gulderstock are popular for the start of winter, even though these are not really the big wild mountains...
And that's why the region is also a little snowshoe paradise close to the town - it's sheltered from the wind and sunny all day long. Just a sun terrace.
We hike in a large loop from 1250 metres above sea level, mostly at a leisurely pace, only a little rough in places, uphill to the Stäffeli ski lodge, where we take a longer break. From here we turn back and choose a path through open terrain, but outside the two large wildlife reserves. We then take the cable car back to the narrow, shady Sernftal valley and the city under the fog.
The tour takes place in all snow and weather conditions, if necessary also with hiking boots - in case Mrs Holle has overslept the beginning of winter.
