Tour description

The Engadine in late autumn is undisputedly one of the most beautiful high valleys in the world. Right in the middle, the remote side valleys of the Swiss National Park. They are almost impossible to reach on a day hike, which is why they are rarely visited. We immerse ourselves in this swiss mountain world. We spend the night in Val Cluozza in the only hut within the park before it closes for the winter two days later.

On the second day we first hike steeply up to the Muottas da Grimmels, past colonies of ibex and chamois. The marmots will already be in hibernation, eagles and vultures rather not yet. After the descent through pine forests to the green-blue Lai da Ova Spin, we spend the night in the excellent Hotel Fuorn, which serves excellent game dishes from local hunting at this time. This second day can easily be shortened.

On the third day we take the post bus up to the Ofen Pass and hike on flat paths into one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Lower Engadine: through Valbella to Tamangur, where a unique moor and stone pine forest landscape begins. It is the highest contiguous Swiss stone pine forest in Europe. Past gnarled, centuries-old tree giants, the trail descends gently to S-charl - and hopefully, inspired by the colours of late autumn, happily back home.
