Fire, water, earth and air – four elements that shape our landscape, define our lives and sometimes unleash tremendous forces.
On our entertaining after-work walk, we’ll discover Winterthur from a slightly different perspective and take a closer look: where do we encounter fire, water, earth and air right in the heart of the city?
How do the elements shape our landscape? What does the air tell us about the weather and climate? And what happens when the forces of nature change?
We’ll also take a look at climate change and the increasing frequency of extreme weather events. After all, the changes to our environment are by no means just distant phenomena – they’re becoming noticeable right on our doorstep.
Afterwards, we’ll move from the trail to the big screen: at the Cameo cinema, we’ll watch the Swiss premiere of ‘Fire, Water, Earth, Air’ as part of the Films for the Earth Festival.
This poetic documentary portrays four Nordic communities grappling with the challenges of climate change. Forest fires, rising sea levels, landslides and increasingly severe storms demonstrate the immense power of nature. At the same time, the film tells the story of people who listen to nature’s signs, pass on their knowledge and search for answers together. It combines everyday life and science with ancient connections to nature and to one another.
A walk and a film, two perspectives on the same four elements – and a special cultural evening in the heart of Winterthur.
