Fantastic Cross Mountains
Tour description
The modern cable car, which opened in 2018, takes you from the Rhine Valley up 1,300 metres to the Stauberenkanzel, which would be worth a trip in itself. The Frümsen-Stauberenkanzel connection is not only a scenic experience, but also a real showcase project in terms of energy technology: it is the first cable car in the world to be powered entirely by solar energy.
After a welcome coffee, the extraordinary Alpstein tour takes us over the Saxer Lücke to the majestic Kreuzberge. If nature hadn't created these fantastic limestone peaks, an architect would have had to invent them!
After the last snow, the alpine flora awakens in full splendour – colourful crocuses, gentians and alpine roses adorn the meadows. With a bit of luck, the first marmots can be seen, curious and still a little sleepy. And if you keep an eye out, you might even spot ibex, which are now clearly visible in the sun again. An impressive nature experience between rock, blossom and animal encounters.
On the Mutschensattel saddle, just a few metres in altitude separate us from the rewarding summit, the Mutschen – anyone who misses out on this impressive view over the entire Rhine Valley as far as Vorarlberg will be in for a treat. The route then continues steadily downhill through the wonderful, secluded mountain landscape until we finally pass Teselalp, where a well-earned, chilled beer is already waiting in the fountain. Finally, we reach our end point after an eventful day – Camplüt above Wildhaus in Toggenburg. The last short stage is either by chairlift or alternatively through an enchanted ravine.
