Some have probably learned to ski on the ski lift at Brunni - and then forgotten about the valley. We meet at the Brunni car park, or at the Wädenswil railway station for those arriving by public transport.
I rediscovered the Alpthal thanks to snowshoe hikes and really like these gentle foothills of the Alps. After the ascent through fir forests and high moors, we take a longer break at the Furggelen. At the hut at the weekend we have soup or milk coffee from the Kacheli, the Schnapps bottle is on the table. That's how it works here.
From there we hike along the ridge to Holzegg. To the left are the Schyz and Glarus Alps, ahead are the mountains of Uri, and to the right are the large and small Mythen.
Speaking of Mythen: the two mountains are the only peaks in the Pre-Alps that always rose from the eternal glacial ice during the last Ice Age. We also follow these traces on this easy and varied day hike.
