Tour description

From San Carlo in Val Bavona, on the first day we climb up to the idyllic Piano delle Creste plateau and the Capanna of the same name, where we will spend the night twice. On the second day, we can make the magnificent round tour over three passes and three deserted Ticino Alps with just a day pack.

The tender love story that Plinio Martini impressively tells in his book ‘Il fondo del sacco’ takes place in this barren mountain world. We cross the Bocchetta Fornasel to the Alpe di Solögna, climb over the Bocchetta di Nassa to the Alpe della Cròsa and finally return to the Laghetti d'Antabia, where we treat ourselves to a refreshing swim just before reaching the hut.

On the third day, we follow the challenging, seven-hour stage 11 of the Via Alta Vallemaggia. We wind our way along the border with Italy over five passes into the Valle di Bosco Gurin to the Grossalp, where we are catered for this evening. We have plenty of time: it's summer in the mountains and the days are long. This mountain hike ends gently on Sunday: We traverse across wide pastures into the Valle di Campo and hike high above the valley floor out of the valley and down to Cerentino.
